Kindergarten Orientation
At Beverly Hills North Public School, we offer an extensive Kindergarten Orientation and School Readiness Program to support your child's transition to school life. This is a valuable opportunity for students to connect and feel safe and secure as they take the exciting step of starting Kindergarten.
Our Kindergarten Orientation Program is held over a three week period. Your child is invited to attend these sessions to be held on the following days:
Classroom Visit – Monday 27th October, 2025 9:30-10:30am
- Parents and children attend an informal session in a Kindergarten classroom, where children join their future classmates and participate in the type of activities they will experience at the beginning of Kindergarten.
Classroom Visit – Tuesday 4th November, 2025 9:30-10:45am
- Children attend a morning session with our current Kindergarten teachers. This session is for children only. The children will remain at school for the entire morning session until 10:45am, allowing them to experience a morning routine within the classroom. Children work alongside their future classmates and will explore the learning spaces, amenities, and play areas to become familiar with the layout of the school. Children will meet new friends and many of the staff that will support them next year.
Information Session and Classroom Visit – Thursday 13th November, 2025 9:30-11:30am
-
The morning begins with a welcome concert performed by current Kindergarten students in the hall. Children will then be escorted to a Kindergarten classroom to participate in some classroom activities and experience a morning routine, including recess. The children will be closely supervised in the playground and will be with a buddy during this time. They will need to bring a hat, small snack for recess and a drink with them in a small, labelled school bag.
During this time, parents are invited to attend an information session. This will also be a wonderful opportunity for parents to become more familiar with school routines and expectations, ways to best prepare children for a smooth transition into ‘big’ school and to answer questions. The presentation will be followed by three information sessions covering Numeracy, Phonological Awareness and Initialit, to provide parents with a greater understanding of how to support children at school. To conclude the morning, parents will be invited to a morning tea in the hall, a great opportunity to meet new parents and our Principal. We encourage all parents to attend this session.
