Additional learning support
At our school, we ensure every student is ready to learn. We support students with disability and additional learning needs so they can take part in all areas of school life. You do not need a formal diagnosis for your child to receive support in a mainstream class. Support can begin at any stage of school.
Support that fits your child's needs
Additional learning support
At our school, we create an inclusive and supportive environment where every child feels safe, valued, and ready to learn. We provide programs and adjustments to ensure students with disabilities and additional learning needs can thrive alongside their peers.
Support designed for your child
Every child learns in their own way. Some may need extra help to feel confident and do their best at school. We work in partnership with families to plan supports and adjustments that meet each child’s individual needs.
Our learning support may include:
- Teachers and support staff working together with families (and students, where appropriate)
- Specialist support for students learning English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D)
- Programs to extend high potential and gifted students and meet their advanced learning needs
- Small group tutoring focused on literacy and numeracy
- Regular check-ins to review and update supports
Changes in the classroom can include:
- Classroom layouts
- Assistive technology
- Specialised instructional resources
- Extra guidance, simplified content or a different focus during lessons
Assessment adjustments may involve:
- Extra time to complete tasks
- Clearer, simpler language
- Breaks during tasks
- Different ways to demonstrate learning (for example, oral presentations instead of written tasks)
How we identify students who may need help:
- Teachers noticing changes in learning or behaviour
- Regularly reviewing assessment results and learning progress
- Parents and carers raising concerns or asking for support
Adjustments are always planned with parents and carers and reviewed regularly to make sure they’re still working. If you think your child may need extra help, please contact us.
